KLANG, July 2 — The opening of the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) stations has benefited commuters by making their daily journeys more convenient while offering faster travel times than previously.
College student T. Harshini, 19, said the LRT3 service has reduced her journey to her college in Brickfields from two hours to just one and a half hours.
“I have been using the LRT3 service for the past four days since it was launched. It is convenient and fast.
"Previously, travelling by other forms of public transport took about two hours, but with the LRT3, it only takes one and a half hours.
“With the LRT3, it is very economical, and both the surroundings and the trains are excellent,” she said at the Seri Andalas Station today.

Meanwhile, bank executive Erni Farisha Mohd Ramli, 41, said using the LRT3 allows her to avoid traffic congestion when commuting between Glenmarie and Seri Andalas.
“It takes me 40 minutes to travel from Glenmarie to Seri Andalas. I usually drive, but with the LRT3, it is much quicker because I do not have to sit in traffic.
“So far everything has been good, but I would suggest providing a shuttle service directly to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang because it is quite difficult and rather far to walk, especially for patients,” she said.

For V. Mogan, 65, he said the public should make full use of the new transport service to ensure it remains sustainable over the long term.
“I walked to this station to go to Pasar Jawa. Walking gives me some exercise, and this is my first time using the LRT3 because I wanted to try it instead of driving.
“My hope is that the public will make good use of this facility,” he said.

Another commuter, Lu Sim Hoay, 77, said the LRT3 enables him to reach his destination without worrying about traffic congestion or finding parking.
“Today I am going to One Utama to meet a friend. I usually drive, but now with the LRT3 it is much easier. It is convenient because I do not have to look for parking or deal with traffic congestion,” he said.

Yesterday, the Sultan of Selangor expressed hope that the recent opening of the LRT3 stations would help reduce the number of vehicles on the roads.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj also hopes that the service will provide a faster, more comfortable and safer travel option, particularly for residents of Klang and Shah Alam who work in Kuala Lumpur.
His Royal Highness called on Prasarana Malaysia Berhad to ensure that all LRT3 routes are properly maintained so that the service can continue operating smoothly and efficiently.
The Shah Alam Line LRT3 project, with an investment of RM16.63 billion, is among the government's strategic investments to strengthen Malaysia's public transport infrastructure.
