SHAH ALAM, July 1 — A motorcyclist was killed after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into the rear of a vehicle that had broken down at KM6.7 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) in Kuala Langat yesterday.
Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said police received a report on the incident, involving a red Honda Dash motorcycle and a silver Ford Ranger, at about 4.20 pm.
He said the victim, a man in his 20s, was travelling from Banting towards Klang when he is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before crashing into the rear right side of the Ford Ranger, which was parked in the emergency lane after breaking down.
“As a result of the collision, the rider of the red Honda Dash motorcycle fell onto the left side of the road and sustained head injuries.
“The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical assistant from Banting Hospital, while the driver of the silver Ford Ranger did not sustain any injuries,” Akmal said.
He added that the driver, a foreign national in his 30s, and the motorcyclist both held valid driving licences and worked in the private sector.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
“Independent witnesses who saw the accident are urged to come forward to provide statements at the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters,” he said.
Akmal urged the public not to speculate on the incident as it could interfere with police investigations.
