SHAH ALAM, June 22 — LRT3, which links Klang to Bandar Utama, will launch on June 29, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will officiate the ceremony on Sunday before the Shah Alam LRT line is open to the public the next day.
“The launch ceremony will be done this Sunday and operations will (start) the next day,” Loke told a press conference after attending the opening event for the new Road Transport Department (JPJ) Bandar Tasik Selatan office in Cheras today.
He added that LRT3 is a long-awaited major public transport initiative for the Klang Valley’s western corridor.
The 37.8km route connects Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang, and spans key locations including in Shah Alam.
Loke said the LRT3 is expected to facilitate residents’ travel and enhance the urban rail network.
