SHAH ALAM, June 19 — A man suffered burns to his head and wrists, while his son experienced breathing difficulties after the two-storey terrace house they lived in at Taman Seri Istana Hills, Klang, caught fire early this morning.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operations director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the fire, which broke out at about 5.23 am, destroyed approximately 70 per cent of the house.
He said a team of firefighters and officers from the Klang Selatan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), assisted by personnel from the Klang Utara BBP, was dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
“A total of 13 personnel, supported by two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) engines and an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) vehicle, were involved in the firefighting operation.
“The fire was successfully brought under control at 5.47 am. There were two victims — a 57-year-old man who suffered burns to about 10 per cent of his head and wrists, and his 28-year-old son, who experienced breathing difficulties,” he said in a statement today.
Ashrul Riezal said both victims managed to escape from the house on their own after the fire spread rapidly.
He said the Fire and Rescue Department’s EMRS team provided initial treatment at the scene before transporting both victims to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for further treatment.
The firefighting operation ended at 7.50 am.
