SHAH ALAM, June 15 — The state recorded RM1.6 billion in revenue collections against its overall target of RM2.8 billion as of the end of May this year.

Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the achievement remains on a positive trajectory, although performance has not been as strong as that recorded during the same period last year.

“With revenue of approximately RM1.6 billion by the end of May, we have not pressed the ‘panic button’. The state government continues to monitor the situation closely while making every effort to enhance revenue collection through land realisation initiatives and investments coming into Selangor.

“At present, the state also has a surplus of RM300 million between expenditure and total revenue. This means the state’s financial position remains relatively healthy, although not as strong as last year.

"I am confident that the state can achieve the RM2.8 billion target while monitoring developments relating to the West Asia crisis on a weekly basis,” he said during a media conference after officiating Phase One of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package at the State Secretariat Building today.

Amirudin added that implementing the Package would not place significant pressure on Selangor's finances, as it primarily involves reallocating funding from existing programmes and initiatives.

“Several cost-saving measures outlined by the Finance Ministry have also helped strengthen the state’s fiscal management, including limiting official overseas travel, reducing the organisation of ceremonial events, and cancelling large-scale Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

“We still have time to assess whether additional funding is required for this resilience package. Based on current estimates, Selangor's reserve position remains sound, and any further requirements can be incorporated into the planning for the 2027 Selangor Budget in November if necessary,” he said.
