MPKS shuts down three recycling operators in Ijok

SHAH ALAM, June 12 — The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) has ordered the closure of three recycling premises in Batu 22 and Batu 23, Ijok, after they were found to be operating without licences and violating environmental regulations.

MPKS said the action was taken during an Integrated Operation on Recycling Premises conducted over five hours from 9 am yesterday, involving several enforcement agencies.

"Throughout the operation, a total of three recycling premises were inspected. Investigations found various offences had been committed.

"These included operating without licences, open burning, unsatisfactory cleanliness levels at the premises, as well as the management of electrical and electronic waste that did not comply with current regulations," it said in a Facebook post.

According to MPKS, compounds, directive notices, notices ordering the cessation of business operations, and seizure actions involving several pieces of equipment and machinery used at the premises were also carried out.

MPKS officers inspect one of the three illegal recycling sites in Ijok on June 11, 2026.

It added that all three premises inspected were ordered to close, while four compounds and eight notices were issued to the owners, including two seizure actions.

The Department of Environment (DOE) also took action over the management of electrical and electronic waste, as well as offences involving open burning, while the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) assisted in maintaining security during the operation.

"MPKS will continue to strengthen integrated enforcement efforts from time to time to ensure that all business activities in Kuala Selangor comply with licensing requirements and the relevant laws in force," it said.
