SHAH ALAM, June 11 — The issue of an illegally constructed multi-storey housing development in Kampung Baru Sungai Makau, Mukim Hulu Langat, occupied by Rohingya, is unrelated to strata management.

Housing and Local Government Deputy Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu said the matter has been left to the state government, which she is confident will handle it appropriately.

“Actually, the issue has nothing to do with strata. I believe it has already been addressed by the Menteri Besar, and we should allow them (the state government) to manage it,” she said.

Athirah was speaking at a media conference after officiating the Strata Conference 2026: Towards First-Class Strata Management today.

The conference, organised by the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council, discussed the current issues, challenges, and the future direction of strata management to achieve higher standards of excellence, sustainability, and competitiveness.

Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the issue of the unauthorised structure was not new and had been subject to various enforcement actions since 2016.

Numerous measures had been taken, including the issuance of warning notices, compounds, integrated operations, investigations, and enforcement action in accordance with legal provisions.

He added that the actions involved several agencies, including the Hulu Langat District and Land Office, the Kajang Municipal Council, the Selangor Water Management Authority, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Immigration Department, as well as demolition operations against structures built without approval.

Meanwhile, Hulu Langat District Officer Dato' Mohd Jusni Hashim said the structure would be demolished in accordance with legal provisions.

This would be carried out following various operations and enforcement measures undertaken by the relevant agencies against the settlement over the past several years.

In a related development, Dusun Tua state assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz said the issue would be brought before the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting in September to find a comprehensive solution to the problem of illegal settlements in the area.

It will be raised to enable more effective action, including measures addressing land-use issues.
