SHAH ALAM, June 11 — Excavation and water pipe installation works near a gas pipeline route in Putra Bistari are being carried out in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure residents' safety.
Kota Kemuning state assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan said the excavation works, which began on June 2, are being conducted in line with the conditions of the approved permit and safety procedures set by the Public Works Department (JKR), with close monitoring by the relevant agencies.
"Safety barriers, warning signs and appropriate traffic control measures will be put in place at the worksite, as stipulated by Koridor Utiliti Selangor (KUSEL).
"Regular monitoring will also be carried out to ensure the safety of residents and road users throughout the implementation period," he said in a statement posted on Facebook.
He said this after visiting the project site with representatives from JKR, Gas Malaysia, KUSEL and residents.
He added that the work permit for the installation of pipes crossing the Gas Malaysia pipeline route had been applied for and approved, while officers from the utility company had also been stationed at the site to monitor the installation process until the works are fully completed.
According to Preakas, the RM1.5 million project is expected to be completed by June 26, subject to weather conditions and the situation at the site.
At the same time, he stressed that residents' safety would continue to be given priority, while the project's progress would be monitored from time to time to ensure that all issues raised receive appropriate attention.
