SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — The state government has been urged to establish an RS-2 Public Dashboard to enable the public to track the progress of the 98 initiatives under the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2).
Kota Kemuning state assemblyman Preakas Sampunathan said the dashboard could display the target for each initiative, the agency responsible, and the amount of funding allocated.
“The public should be given the opportunity to see the extent to which the targets set have been achieved, which agency is responsible, as well as the amount of funding allocated and spent on each initiative.
“For example, for initiatives related to flooding, the project progress could be displayed by district so that the public can find out the implementation status, including work progress and the targets that have been achieved,” he said during the debate on the RS-2 motion at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
Preakas added that the proposal is not intended to find fault with the state government, but rather to foster a culture of accountability and increase public confidence in the implementation of government policies.
A government confident in its performance should not be afraid of transparency, as the public has the right to know about the progress, achievements, and outcomes of every initiative implemented.
On Friday (August 7), Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced RS-2 as the direction for Selangor’s development from 2026 to 2030, encompassing six main missions involving 25 areas and 98 initiatives.
It involves a total allocation of RM33.31 billion, to be spent equitably so that the benefits of development are enjoyed by the people, without relying solely on state government allocations.
The Plan's implementation will also involve revenue from state government subsidiaries, private-sector investments, and cooperation among various stakeholders to ensure that each initiative is implemented effectively and achieves its targets.
