SINGAPORE, June 11 — The state government will enhance the entire value chain of high-impact industries to meet the demands of the future economy, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
These sectors include semiconductors, integrated circuit design, and next-generation manufacturing, all of which are being actively developed in Selangor.
He said the initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen the growth of various industries, including electrical and electronics, aerospace, life sciences, electric vehicles, and the digital economy.
“These sectors will represent the next phase of economic transformation under the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), while offering significant opportunities for investors seeking long-term growth within the ASEAN market.
“In Malaysia, Selangor is leading this transformation. Our goal is for Selangor to become a gateway not only to the Malaysian market but also to ASEAN and, ultimately, the wider Asia-Pacific region,” Amirudin said.
He was speaking at the 'One Connect Series: Unlocking Strategic Opportunities in Selangor' investment roundtable, jointly organised by Invest Selangor and OCBC Singapore, on Tuesday (June 9).
Amirudin added that Selangor is also encouraging the participation of foreign companies, including telecommunications operators, digital infrastructure providers, data centre operators, technology firms, and financial services companies, to drive broader investment growth.
The state government's commitment extends beyond investment promotion, focusing equally on facilitating implementation, supporting business expansion, and developing talent to ensure long-term success.
“Selangor is ready to be a trusted strategic partner, whether in manufacturing, digital infrastructure, supply chain expansion, or the exploration of new markets across ASEAN,” he said.
