SHAH ALAM, June 5 — Gombak recorded a 24 per cent reduction in its crime index during the first six months of this year, demonstrating the effectiveness of crime prevention and management strategies implemented by the Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD).
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the achievement also enabled IPD Gombak to meet its Key Performance Indicator (KPI) target of 60 per cent.
“The district has successfully achieved its KPI target of 60 per cent and recorded significant results through a 24 per cent reduction in the crime index during the first six months of this year.
“This success demonstrates the effectiveness of the crime management and prevention strategies implemented throughout the period, driven by the continued cooperation of police officers and personnel in strengthening crime prevention efforts,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the handover ceremony for the Gombak district police chief and the chairperson of the Police Family Association (PERKEP) Gombak at IPD Gombak yesterday.

During the ceremony, Shazeli also expressed his appreciation to SAC Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir for his service and contributions during his five years at the helm of IPD Gombak, during which the district recorded various notable achievements.
He said the accomplishments, including the reduction in crime rates, reflected the continued commitment of all IPD Gombak personnel to ensuring public safety and order.
At the same time, he expressed confidence in ACP Ibrahim Husin’s ability to sustain the force’s momentum of excellence, citing his extensive experience and service record.
Shazeli also urged the new IPD Gombak leadership to set higher KPI targets and further strengthen crime prevention efforts to ensure the district’s strong performance can be maintained.

The ceremony witnessed the handover of the Gombak district police chief post from Noor Ariffin to Ibrahim, while the position of PERKEP Gombak chairperson was handed over to Noor Azimah Mohamed Akbal.
On May 5, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) announced the transfer of 19 senior officers, including Noor Ariffin, who was appointed Principal Assistant Director of Management (Administration) at Bukit Aman with the acting rank of SAC.
Ibrahim, who previously served as Hulu Selangor district police chief, was appointed the new Gombak district police chief.
