GOMBAK, Aug 30 — The Mesra Rakyat programme for the Gombak Parliamentary constituency will be expanded to other state constituencies in the area to enable more residents to gain direct access to information and services provided by various government agencies.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the programme, which brings together various state and federal government agencies as well as private-sector organisations, gives the public an opportunity to learn about the various initiatives available.
“Thank you, because this gives the people of Gombak, particularly those in the Gombak Setia area, an opportunity to obtain information and learn about the latest programmes that may not have reached them yet.
“They can make enquiries at the various counters that have been set up,” he said after the programme at Dewan Mutiara, SMK Sungai Pusu today.
Amirudin added that programmes such as this also provide opportunities for two-way communication between the government and the community, including young people and various community groups.
Similar programmes will be rolled out across Selangor over the next year.
“We will roll them out after travelling from district to district. Once we have the plan in place, we want to coordinate it with the MADANI Tour, as the federal government is also involved. So, we will make room for that,” he said.
Earlier, the Menteri Besar also spent time visiting exhibition and service booths operated by various agencies before mingling with visitors.
Agencies participating in the programme included the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), the Health Ministry through the Healthcare Scheme for the B40 Group (PeKa B40), Hijrah Selangor, the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the Selayang Municipal Council, and Jualan Ehsan Rahmah.
