SUBANG JAYA, May 26 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will complete upgrades to the Kewajipan Roundabout in phases, at nighttime, and during off-peak hours to reduce disruptions to road users, said Subang Jaya Mayor Dato’ Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim.
He added that the project aims to reduce traffic congestion along the main route linking Subang Jaya, Bandar Sunway and USJ, and would involve lane closures to facilitate works.
“The Kewajipan Roundabout is a strategic route that supports high traffic flow every day as it links residential areas, education institutions, healthcare facilities, and major commercial centres.
“These upgrades are important to ensure a more efficient, safer, and more sustainable road network system, in line with the aspiration towards a smart city that we are developing,” he said during an MBSJ meeting here today.
“A large part of the project involving lane closures would be done at night and during off-peak hours to avoid significant disruptions to residents’ daily journeys,” he added.

Amirul also said the project, which will be completed by March 2027, would be funded by Sunway Property.
The upgrade project involves installing three smart AI-based stoplights, restructuring the SS15-Bandar Sunway route, improving the intersection, and widening the road to USJ Taipan.
Yesterday, Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng Mei Sze welcomed the project, which she called a long-term solution to congestion in the area, adding that residents have long awaited these improvements.
“Residents want solutions that not only reduce congestion today, but can support development and vehicle number growth in the future,” she added.
Ng advised the public to plan their journeys and comply with road signs throughout the project period for everyone’s benefit.
