MBSJ unveils new five-year strategic plan to drive sustainable city growth

SUBANG JAYA, June 30 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has launched its new five-year strategic plan aimed at supporting sustainable urban development and guiding the city’s growth through 2030.

Mayor Dato' Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said the plan will serve as a key reference for implementing development projects, maintenance programmes, sustainability initiatives, and cleanliness efforts across areas under its jurisdiction.

It will also guide the local authority in formulating future development policies while ensuring long-term planning is carried out in a more structured and comprehensive manner.

"We have worked towards producing our third Voluntary Local Review as part of our efforts to become a sustainable city.

"This Subang Jaya Strategic Plan is to ensure that future planning, development initiatives, sustainability programmes, maintenance, and cleanliness management can be carried out more effectively," he told Media Selangor after the council’s full board meeting and the plan’s launch at MBSJ headquarters today.

Amirul added that the strategic plan covers a five-year period beginning this year, and it will not remain static throughout its implementation.

According to details shared during an engagement session last month, the plan is built on five main pillars and consists of 34 strategies and 161 action plans.

The pillars are efficient and integrity-driven organisational management; transparent and accountable financial management; first-class city service management; a smart and sustainable city; and building a civil and inclusive society towards a prosperous city, commercial hub, and ideal residence.

Meanwhile, he said that MBSJ will review its Local Plan 2035 during this five-year period to ensure that future development policies continue to meet the needs of residents and stakeholders.

"We will make amendments to our Local Plan and conduct a public hearing process. We are expected to hold the public hearing in July," Amirul said.

He noted that public participation plays an important role in shaping future development planning within Subang Jaya as the council continues its efforts to build a more sustainable and liveable city.
