GOMBAK, May 24 — The increase in the Haj Muassasah Incentive to RM1,500 reflects Selangor’s growing revenue and stronger financial position, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

“The state government has a special programme for those performing the Haj pilgrimage, the muassasah contribution, which we enhanced this year.

“It was first introduced at RM400 and RM500, but today, Alhamdulillah (God be praised), as our revenue has increased and Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI in particular has successfully generated income through wakalah zakat and corporate social responsibility (CSR), this year the muassasah contribution was increased from RM1,000 last year to RM1,500.

“We are almost able to fulfil our promise made during the last election to increase it to RM2,000 for those who are given the opportunity to perform Haj through the muassasah scheme,” he said during the Gombak Parliamentary constituency’s Hari Raya Aidiladha korban handover ceremony yesterday.

Earlier, Amirudin announced that 6,000 pilgrims in Selangor would each receive the RM1,500 incentive through the 1447H/2026M Haj Muassasah Incentive Programme, with a total allocation of RM9 million from the state government.

Since its introduction in 2022, the initiative has benefited 18,000 pilgrims from Selangor, including 3,000 recipients each in 2022 and 2023, and 6,000 recipients each in 2024 and 2025.

Moreover, the state government continues to fully sponsor selected underprivileged Selangor residents to perform Haj under the muassasah scheme.

“We provide quotas for more than 70 Selangor residents to perform Haj through the muassasah scheme with full sponsorship.

“The state government focuses on individuals, who we feel may need a very long time to gather the funds and finances required to perform the Haj pilgrimage,” he said.

At the event, the Menteri Besar distributed 145 cows and goats to mosques, suraus, and community organisations in Gombak in conjunction with this year’s Aidiladha celebration.

“Today is the presentation of additional contributions for Gombak and all its state constituencies. We handed them over to recipients, including associations and organisations that wish to carry out the korban.

“I believe almost everyone who wanted to perform the korban ritual has been accommodated based on requests, including the Fire and Rescue Department, the police, and welfare organisations,” he said after the ceremony.

Previously, state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato’ Izham Hashim said the state government allocated RM6 million for this year’s korban programme through CSR cooperation involving corporate companies and government-linked companies.

Contributions from 10 subsidiaries, including MBI, the Selangor State Development Corporation, and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad, involved 800 cows and 600 goats for distribution to mosques, surau and non-governmental organisations.

In his speech, Amirudin said the state government has consistently carried out korban assistance programmes since 2008 in cooperation with various agencies.

“We hand them over to surau, mosques, and community service centres. However, over the past two or three years, there has been a slight change: we now provide goats in addition to cows to increase the total number distributed.

“We hope that the contributions provided can be fully utilised, help connect communities through various activities and programmes, while giving opportunities to those in need to perform the korban ritual, which is becoming increasingly costly,” he said.

During the event, Anggun Malaysia Association chairman Norlaili Abdul Rashid expressed appreciation for the contribution received this year.

“Our association was established in 2016, and we act as a middle party in delivering food basket assistance, community programmes and Orang Asli activities.

“With this assistance, we will distribute it to the asnaf community, perhaps to 50 or 60 people in need,” she said.
