SHAH ALAM, May 19 — Enforcement action was taken against several fly-infested poultry farms during an operation by the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL).
The operation, which targeted farms in Kampung Kanchong Tengah, Kampung Tongkah and Kampung Kelanang, revealed premises without effective fly control measures which had led to an uncontrolled fly infestation.
MPKL said in a Facebook post today that the pests have caused disturbance to the environment and residents.
“Strict enforcement actions were taken immediately, including the issuing of disturbance notices to the operators involved.
“Barrier tape was placed around each premises to allow for immediate and orderly cleanup and fly control works,” it said.
The operation was conducted by the MPKL Solid Waste Management and Environmental Health Department, MPKL Enforcement Department, and the Kuala Langat District Health Office.
According to MPKL, notices were issued under Section 80 of the Local Government Act 1976 mandating immediate action from operators to eliminate the pests and ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
It also issued notices under the MDKL Trade, Business and Industry Bylaws 2007 to unlicensed poultry farmers.
“Failure to comply with the established directives will result in further legal action without compromise. Monitoring will be carried out continuously (to ensure compliance),” said MPKL.
