SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 — The owner of a curtain shop was fined RM1,500 at the Telok Datok Magistrates’ Court in Kuala Langat for displaying an advertisement without a licence from the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL).
The woman in her 30s pleaded guilty after the charge was read before magistrate Maslinda Selamat at the court yesterday.
In a Facebook post, MPKL said the shop is located on Jalan Aman Tiara in Tropicana Aman, Telok Panglima Garang, at which an advertisement was displayed without approval from the local authority.
“The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge read against her following an offence under By-law 7 of the Advertisement By-laws (MPKL) 2007,” the council said.
During the proceedings, MPKL requested the court impose an appropriate penalty, noting that the defendant still doesn’t have a valid advertising license.
The court meted out a fine of RM1,500, in default four months’ prison.
