SHAH ALAM, May 8 — A landslide was reported in Kampung Bukit Sungai Putih in Hulu Langat, with the slip occurring a mere 1m from a house this afternoon.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the agency received an emergency call about the incident at 2.17pm.
“A team from the Ampang Fire and Rescue Station was sent to the scene, comprising six personnel and one Light Fire Rescue Tender engine, which reached several minutes after the call was made.
“The operations commander reported that upon arrival at the scene, there (seemed to be) a landslide near a house, and inhabitants were told to evacuate as an early safety move,” he said in a statement today.
According to him, the squad then surveyed the location to rule out hazards, until the area was declared safe. Local authorities were informed about the disaster for follow-up action and mitigation measures.
Mukhlis also said no casualties were reported.
