SHAH ALAM, Oct 12 — All schools under four District Education Offices (PPDs) in Selangor will close tomorrow after changes in Air Pollutant Index (API) readings.
The Selangor Education Department (JPN) said the closure will affect schools under the Hulu Langat, Petaling Perdana, Kuala Langat, and Sepang PPDs.
“The closure involves all schools in the four districts concerned. Meanwhile, all schools in other districts in Selangor will operate as usual,” it said in a statement today.
The Selangor JPN has also instructed the affected schools to inform parents and guardians of the closure and take measures to safeguard their health and safety.
The latest announcement adds Kuala Langat and Sepang to the list of affected districts, while schools under the Gombak PPD, which were closed today, will be allowed to resume operations tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek announced that all schools in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Putrajaya would also be closed tomorrow due to the haze.
The closure will also cover schools under the Kuantan and Rompin PPDs in Pahang, while schools in other districts in the state would operate as usual.

“For schools that remain open, school authorities are advised to monitor outdoor activities according to current air quality conditions.
“Parents, pupils, and school staff are also advised to wear appropriate face masks when outdoors, particularly in areas affected by the haze,” she said in a Facebook post today.
Fadhlina also urged all parties to follow official announcements from their respective schools, PPDs, and JPNs for the latest updates.
The Selangor JPN said it would announce any further decisions on the reopening of schools through the Education Ministry and the department's official channels.
