KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 — The Selangor government is adopting a “Selangor Plus Everywhere” strategy as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s economic position and build beneficial partnerships with countries globally.
State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han said Selangor is uniquely positioned as a neutral and strategic economic hub, particularly within the global semiconductor supply chain, making it an attractive partner for international collaboration.
“Under the new ‘Selangor Plus Everywhere’ initiative, the state aims to build a wider international industrial cooperation network through strategic collaborations with key global markets, including the United States, Europe, China, Japan and Brazil,” he said.
He was speaking at the ASEMxChampionCHIP eXperience event at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here today.
Ng described the initiative as a cooperative nexus designed to strengthen technological collaboration and create higher-value employment opportunities.

In an Instagram post yesterday, Ng said Selangor is moving beyond the traditional “Plus One” strategy, where an economy has at least one other foreign location in its supply chain, to embrace “Selangor Plus Everywhere”, signalling bases in multiple other locations.
“‘Selangor Plus Everywhere’ means building deep, mutually beneficial partnerships between Selangor and economies across the world, fostering stronger connectivity, shared growth, and win-win cooperation,” he said.
At today’s event, Ng said the global technology sector is undergoing major structural shifts driven by artificial intelligence (AI), advanced manufacturing and geopolitical changes, increasing demands for a highly skilled workforce.
“The semiconductor industry’s biggest challenge today is no longer silicon supply or computing power, but the shortage of skilled human capital.
“As the industry restructures itself geopolitically, the future will belong to countries capable of developing strong, local and resilient talent pipelines.”
Ng also highlighted the rapid growth of the Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Park in Puchong, which currently houses 15 IC design companies and 311 chip engineers.
“This demonstrates Selangor’s ability to attract high-value global investments while nurturing local semiconductor capabilities within the international value chain,” he said.
