SHAH ALAM, May 4 — The reopening of the Impactable Vintage Property (IVP) Complex in Subang is expected to generate approximately 1,543 job opportunities, including 892 high-skilled positions involving engineers and technicians.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the development of the high-standard aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility not only revitalises an old asset but also opens the door to quality investments in the aerospace sector.
“It not only benefits the industry but also creates more high-skilled job opportunities for the people, while stimulating the local economy, including spillover effects for small and medium enterprises,” he said during the complex's launch today.
Also present were the state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han, Khazanah Nasional chief investment officer Hisham Hamdan, and industry representatives.
Amirudin added that the state government is also emphasising talent development to ensure the local workforce remains competitive globally.
Collaboration with training institutions, such as the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority and Approved Training Organisations, is crucial to ensure the workforce meets industry standards.
Similarly, he said the reopening of IVP Subang is part of the efforts to revitalise the complex, which had previously not been operating actively.
The facility's reactivation aligns with the Selangor Aerospace Industry Action Plan 2020-2030.
“This effort is important to revitalise existing assets and strengthen the state’s aerospace subsector,” Amirudin said.
The Menteri Besar noted that the development also supports the growth of the aviation industry while enhancing the capabilities of local facilities.
As such, this initiative lays the foundation for a more sustainable aerospace ecosystem in Selangor.
IVP Subang now provides a comprehensive aviation ecosystem through aircraft hangars operated by industry players, including Malaysia Airlines Berhad Engineering Services and Base Maintenance Malaysia.
It also houses an engine maintenance centre by GE Aerospace Engine Services Malaysia, including a Centre of Excellence for LEAP engines.
The complex is equipped with an Engine Ground Run Bay, the only dedicated facility in Subang capable of conducting on-wing engine testing, including for wide-body aircraft.
