SHAH ALAM, Apr 20 — The Sultan of Selangor has welcomed the investments received by the state government and hopes the manufacturing sector will offer more job opportunities for the people.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj said he was informed that Selangor’s economic activity recorded investments of RM83.9 billion, surpassing the RM65 billion target by RM18.9 billion last year.
“I am pleased to see that more than half of the total investments in Selangor last year came from local investors, valued at RM48.9 billion or 58.3 per cent.
“Therefore, I hope there are new efforts to further energise the manufacturing sector, which can offer job opportunities to my people,” His Royal Highness said in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the 15th Selangor State Legislative Assembly held at the Selangor State Assembly today.
Also present were Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin, Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, and his wife Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Dato’ Abdul Aziz.
His Royal Highness also expressed confidence that there is strong potential to expand the manufacturing and production sector, which currently contributes 21.6 per cent to the state’s economy, particularly through new high-tech investments.
He said the Speed Selangor initiative should be enhanced to ease business processes and optimise investor interest in Selangor.
Such efforts, he added, are important to ensure existing industries can be developed more rapidly, while also creating more job opportunities in an effective, fast and efficient manner for the people.
