His Royal Highness (HRH) the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, graciously conferred First-Class State Orders on six individuals during the Selangor state investiture ceremony—held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee of his 25-year reign —at the Balairung Seri of Istana Alam Shah today.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Her Royal Highness the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin; His Highness the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah; and Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Dato’ Abdul Aziz.
Leading the list of recipients was the *Orang Besar Istana* (Palace Dignitary), Dato’ Paduka Syed Budriz Putra Jamalullail Syed Amir Abidin Jamalullail, who was awarded the *Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor* (S.P.M.S.) order.
Also receiving this order—which carries the title of *Dato’ Seri* for men and *Datin Paduka Seri* for women—were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Chief Justice Tun Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, and Executive Chairman of Westports Holdings Berhad, Datuk Ruben Emir Gnanalingam Abdullah.
His Royal Highness also conferred the *Dato’ Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah* (S.S.I.S.) order upon *Orang Besar Diraja* (Royal Dignitary) Dato’ Richard Alexander John Curtis and the former Legal Advisor of the State of Selangor, Dato’ Salim Soib.
This order carries the title of *Dato’ Setia* for men and *Datin Paduka Setia* for women.
Earlier, a ceremony was held for the Proclamation of Titles, the taking of the oath of allegiance, and the act of paying homage (*menjunjung duli*) by the *Orang Besar Istana* and *Dato’ Diraja* (Royal Dignitaries) of Selangor. During the ceremony, Raja Dato’ Reza Alhaj Raja Dato’ Zaib Shah Alhaj was proclaimed an *Orang Besar Istana* (High-Ranking Palace Official) with the title *Engku Sri Paduka Diraja*, while Tengku Ezrique Ezzuddean Tengku Ardy Esfandiari Alhaj was conferred the title *Tengku Orang Kaya Menteri Diraja*.
Sultan Sharafuddin also proclaimed the Chairman of the Heart Foundation of Malaysia, Dato’ Dr. Aljafri Tan Sri Abdul Majid, as a *Dato’ Diraja Selangor* with the title *Dato’ Sri Maharaja Diraja*.
The ceremony saw the recipients of these titles pledge their loyalty and allegiance to the Sultan of Selangor. Additionally, Muslim recipients were presented with a *keris panjang*, while non-Muslim recipients were presented with a sword.
The ceremony, conducted in accordance with royal customs and traditions, was captured by photographers Ahmad Zakki Jilan and Khairul Helmy Mohd Din, immortalised these historic moments held in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebration of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s 25-year reign.
