SHAH ALAM, April 18 — A total of 16,800 students have benefited from the Back to School Programme implemented across 56 state constituencies this year, helping to ease the financial burden on families ahead of the new school term.
Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said each constituency involved 300 students, with the overall allocation amounting to about RM1.7 million.
“This programme is implemented to ensure children can start the school session more comfortably without being burdened by financial problems.
“It also reflects the state government’s continued commitment to safeguarding the educational welfare of the people,” he told Media Selangor during the 2026 School Session Back to School Programme Roadshow aid presentation ceremony at the Sungai Burong community service centre today.
Azri added that 300 students in the state constituency received assistance through the programme at the centre.
“The state government always implements programmes like this regardless of whether the area is urban or rural.

“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), we also have good cooperation with the coordinator officer here and always strive to implement various initiatives in this area,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sungai Burong state constituency coordinator Maruwan Ahmad said the initiative provides relief to families in need, especially in managing school preparation costs.
“This programme is implemented every year to help ease the burden of parents and ensure students are more prepared to begin the school session,” he said.
Through the programme, the state government remains committed to ensuring more inclusive and comprehensive access to education for all segments of society.
During the event, financial aid was also presented to eight storm victims in Sungai Burong, with each recipient receiving RM1,000. In a separate event in Jeram, another 18 victims received the same assistance.
