SHAH ALAM, Apr 16 — Affordable housing projects currently under construction in Selangor are not at risk of being abandoned despite rising construction material costs and diesel prices.
However, housing and culture executive councillor Datuk Borhan Aman Shah acknowledged that these projects may take longer to complete than initially scheduled.
“Abandoned projects can usually be identified early, for example from the background of the developer. I believe the risk of projects being abandoned is low.
“However, completion may be slightly delayed compared with the stipulated timeline. So far, reports indicate that all projects are progressing as usual,” he told Media Selangor.
He also assured that the state government would assist affordable housing developers facing challenges arising from the conflict in West Asia.

“The impact of this crisis may last up to six months. But so far, we have not received any complaints from developers. If there are any, we may provide some flexibility.
“For example, we can grant additional time for them to complete projects. They may want to reschedule their project timelines or make other adjustments. We are ready to consider this,” he said.
The conflict in West Asia, which began on February 28, has continued despite a two-week ceasefire since April 8, as negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan failed to reach a peace agreement.
