SHAH ALAM, April 16 — Recommendations from a special task force to identify measures to mitigate the impact of the ongoing energy crisis on Selangor are expected to be tabled at the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) meeting for endorsement tomorrow.

State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said if approved, the proposals would be presented to the State Executive Council the same day.

Both meetings are scheduled to take place in the State Secretariat Building.

“Following the meetings, I believe the Menteri Besar (Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari) may announce something at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting next week,” he told Media Selangor after the launch of the 2026 Public Sector Innovation programme at MBSA Convention Centre today.

Last Monday (April 6), Amirudin announced the formation of the Selangor Energy Crisis Special Task Force to develop measures to address the impact of the West Asia conflict on the state’s economy.

Among other things, the task force, chaired by former Bank Negara Malaysia governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, will assist in reviewing the 2026 Selangor Budget, focusing on addressing cost-of-living pressures and supporting residents and industries amid the energy crisis stemming from the conflict.

Meanwhile, Fadzli added that any decision will take into account data from the state and Federal governments to ensure better coordination.

“We will support what is being done at the Federal level, and at the same time implement certain interventions at the state and local government level so that there are no contradictions,” he said.

This includes issues concerning project approvals and licence issuance.

“The most important thing is that the economy continues to hold and people can still earn a living without job losses. That is our main key performance indicator,” Fadzli said.

The ongoing conflict in West Asia has heightened geopolitical tensions and raised the risk of wider regional instability. It has affected countries worldwide, leading to a surge in energy prices, supply chain disruptions, and growing economic uncertainty.
