SHAH ALAM, April 12 — Police have intensified efforts to track down a Pakistani remand detainee who escaped Sungai Buloh Prison on Thursday, with multiple units deployed to assist in the manhunt.
The detainee, identified as Muhammad Hassan, is facing several charges of robbery, immigration offences, and sexual crimes including those involving children, under Malaysian law.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the operation is being led by his contingent, with support from the General Operations Force (GOF), Police Air Wing Unit, and the PDRM Internal Security and Public Order Department.
“The search and capture efforts are ongoing and supported by additional personnel and technical capabilities.
“We have strengthened controls at border entry points to minimise any possibility of the suspect fleeing abroad,” Hafiz added.
He assured that the situation is under control, with authorities committed to locating and apprehending the suspect.
He also urged the public to remain cautious and avoid spreading false information.
Those with information on the suspect’s whereabouts are urged to contact investigating officer Muhendran Chandra at 010-430 4383 or the Search and Capture (SAC) Operations Room hotline at 03-6140 1096.
Muhammad Hassan was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and long black pants.
