SUNGAI BULOH, March 20 — While many Muslims in the country prepare to return to their hometowns, about 300 personnel at Sungai Buloh Prison remain steadfast in carrying out their duties, sacrificing their Aidilfitri celebrations with family for the sake of responsibility.
However, their longing for loved ones was somewhat eased when they were visited by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who brought festive food contributions as part of the ‘Singgah Syawal’ programme.
Sungai Buloh Prison director Ardiansyah Mahmod said work commitments mean that a large number of personnel are unable to return home for Raya, as prison operations must continue round the clock.
“Praise be to God, today we received a visit from Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari in conjunction with the ‘Singgah Syawal’ programme at Sungai Buloh Prison.
“His presence has, in some way, eased the sadness among personnel on duty, especially those who did not return home for Raya and are working on the first day of Syawal across all shifts,” he said when met last night.

He added that the visit not only brightened the festive atmosphere but also served as a morale boost for personnel who remain committed to carrying out their duties for public safety and security.
Amirudin also spent time interacting with personnel and shared his intention to contribute a cow for the upcoming Aidiladha celebration to staff and inmates at the prison before distributing festive food.
In addition to Sungai Buloh Prison, the Menteri Besar also visited personnel at several other agencies, including KDEB ICI Sdn Bhd, Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang and the Kota Anggerik Fire and Rescue Station, where he distributed Aidilfitri treats such as lemang and rendang.
