SHAH ALAM, Apr 10 — Police are actively tracking down a remand detainee facing allegations of sexual offences against children who escaped from Sungai Buloh Prison yesterday.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said the suspect is a 24-year-old Pakistani man identified as Muhammad Hassan.
He said the suspect is facing charges under Sections 377C and 392 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
“The suspect is also facing two charges under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and one charge under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
“The suspect was last seen wearing an orange T-shirt and black trousers,” he said in a statement today.
Mohd Hafiz said police have stepped up efforts to locate the suspect in surrounding areas and are carrying out various follow-up actions following the report.
“This detainee is facing sexual offences involving children, therefore members of the public are advised to exercise caution.
“Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is urged to contact investigating officers Inspector Muhendran at 010-4304383 or Inspector Azamuddin at 016-5661597, or visit the nearest police station,” he said.
