SHAH ALAM, April 4 — Media Selangor chief executive officer Mohamed Fareed Mohamed Ashaaree will accompany Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari on Malaysia’s humanitarian aid mission to Gaza, as well as the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 delegation.
This follows an announcement by the Menteri Besar’s Office regarding Amirudin's official assignment as Malaysia’s representative for the mission, which is scheduled to depart on April 6.
In a statement, Media Selangor said Fareed’s involvement reflects the company's continued commitment to humanitarian solidarity and support for efforts to uphold peace, freedom and justice at the international level.
Media Selangor called on its staff, stakeholders and Malaysians to pray for the safety, well-being and success of the delegation throughout the mission.
Yesterday, the Menteri Besar’s Office said the humanitarian mission, organised by the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM), will deliver 30 containers carrying 374 tonnes of aid to assist Palestinians facing increasingly dire conditions in Gaza.
"Amirudin will lead the humanitarian aid operation and ensure the safe release of aid containers in Cairo, Egypt.
"He is also scheduled to lead a special session at the Rafah border crossing to reaffirm Malaysia’s firm stance on the Gaza blockade, before monitoring the departure of the Sumud Nusantara delegation from the Port of Barcelona, Spain," it said.
