SHAH ALAM, March 27 — A man was arrested for allegedly stealing cables near a railway track at Kilometre 39.518, Kampung Raja Uda, Klang, yesterday.

The suspect was apprehended by officers from the Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) Auxiliary Police at 6.10 pm during a routine patrol in the area.

KTMB said in a statement that the man attempted to flee but was caught following swift action by the officers on duty.

“Further checks revealed that the suspect did not have any identification documents. Items seized included a machete, a sack, and a 2.5-millimetre roll of cable,” the statement said.

The suspect was handed over to the Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) unit at the South Klang District Police Headquarters for further action.

The statement added that trespassing and damaging railway property is a serious offence under the Railways Act 1991 and the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

KTMB assured that security patrols would be intensified to safeguard railway infrastructure and ensure smooth train operations.
