SHAH ALAM, April 1 — The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) is battling a fire that broke out this morning at an illegal landfill in Batu 14, Kampung Serdang, Kapar.
No casualties have been reported, said Selangor JBPM assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar.
He said the department received an emergency call at 11.33am, and a fire engine from the Kuala Selangor Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene at noon.
Mukhlis said firefighters discovered that the blaze involved a pile of domestic waste measuring 3m by 12m, with two hotspots identified within the site.
“Firefighting operations are ongoing using two (91m) hose lines, assisted by a GP885 portable pump from the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS), drawing water from open sources,” he said in a statement today.
Mukhlis added that the operation involved 11 officers and personnel, supported by a Fire Rescue Tender from the Kuala Selangor station.
He said firefighting efforts are ongoing to ensure the blaze is fully contained.
