SHAH ALAM, April 1 — Twelve Orang Asli students in Selangor recorded excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam, each having scored 5As and above, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.
He added that one student even scored nine straight As.
“The success reflects the students’ determination, discipline and perseverance in overcoming challenges in their educational journey.
“This accomplishment was also the result of continued support from parents, teachers and all parties who played an important role in guiding the students,” he said in a Facebook post.
Providing a breakdown by district, Papparaidu said in Kuala Langat, aside from the student who scored 9As, another obtained 6As.
In Sepang, one Orang Asli student scored 7As and another earned 6As, while in Hulu Langat, one student obtained 7As and another achieved 5As.
Meanwhile, in the Gombak/Petaling district, one student scored 7As, two students achieved 6As, and three students obtained 5As.
Papparaidu said education remains key in transforming lives, and expressed hope that the achievement would inspire more Orang Asli students to continue striving for knowledge and pursue their ambitions.
