HULU LANGAT, March 31 — The Selangor government will make a final decision on the implementation of a work-from-home (WFH) policy next week after reviewing the outcomes of two key meetings related to the current situation, particularly the global energy crisis.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state administration is taking a cautious approach by seeking views from various parties, including oil and gas operators, economists and financial institutions.
He said the engagements with stakeholders are scheduled for tomorrow, followed by a special meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and state leaders on Thursday to formulate measures to address current global challenges.
“Earlier at the state executive council meeting, I instructed the human resources division to prepare this framework. I also said I would first listen to the outcomes of these two important meetings.
“The key aim of WFH is to reduce pressure on fuel consumption as well as its impact on staff productivity,” Amirudin said at a press conference after officiating the reopening of Puncak Ampang Look Out Point (ALOP) here.
Also present were state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim and Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling.

Last Thursday, Anwar said the government is considering additional measures, including the phased implementation of more flexible working arrangements such as WFH for civil servants.
He also urged the private sector to explore similar approaches, in line with steps previously taken by several companies and financial institutions.
Several ASEAN countries are also considering similar policies amid concerns over possible fuel supply disruptions due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
