GOMBAK, Aug 30 — Construction of the Wira Damai Islamic Complex has reached 50 per cent overall progress and is expected to be fully completed by the second quarter of next year.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said several of its components are progressing ahead of schedule.
“For example, the component for the mihrab (direction of Mecca) and prayer area was supposed to be at 50 per cent (but) has reached 53 per cent,” he said after inspecting the complex's progress today.
Amirudin added that the state government is confident the project can be completed by the second quarter of next year at the latest for the benefit of local residents.
The Wira Damai Islamic Complex, being developed on a 10.733-acre site, will provide various facilities, including a mosque with a capacity of approximately 2,700 worshippers, lecture rooms, a mortuary management area, a dining area, and a kitchen.
It will also include quarters for the imam and bilal, as well as a recreational area for the local community.
The RM33 million project is expected to benefit nearly 10,000 residents around Sungai Tua, while also serving as a centre for religious activities and local community development.
