KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 — The Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) has announced the establishment of Fitipower Malaysia Sdn Bhd, marking a fresh milestone in efforts to strengthen Selangor’s semiconductor ecosystem.
In a statement today, Sidec said the company is the local subsidiary of Taiwan-based integrated circuit (IC) design company Fitipower Integrated Technology Inc, which has commenced operations at the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park in Puchong.
The facility, spearheaded by Sidec, forms part of Selangor’s broader strategy to position itself as a regional hub for IC design and semiconductor innovation, it said.
“The establishment of Fitipower Malaysia reinforces the growing momentum of the IC Design Park, which serves as a strategic platform to attract global IC design companies, nurture local talent, and accelerate Malaysia’s transition into higher-value semiconductor activities,” it added.
Sidec said Fitipower Malaysia will focus on semiconductor IC design-related research and development (R&D), particularly in display driver IC, power management IC technologies and edge artificial intelligence system-on-chip.
“By leveraging regional technological resources, the company aims to accelerate product innovation and expand its global market presence, while creating long-term value for customers and shareholders."
Following the launch, Sidec also held discussions with the state government and Fitipower executives to explore further collaboration in semiconductor talent development, industry partnerships and technology innovation initiatives, it added.
Fitipower Integrated Technology chairman Young Lin said Malaysia’s strong engineering talent pool, expanding semiconductor ecosystem and supportive government initiatives made it a strategic location for the company’s overseas R&D expansion.
