SHAH ALAM, March 12 — The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) issued 24 compounds during an integrated operation on premises run by foreign nationals conducted around the Taman Industri Alam Jaya in Bandar Puncak Alam.
The operation, which ran from 9am to 2pm yesterday, was carried out by its Enforcement Department in collaboration with several internal departments and the Selangor branch of the Malaysia Companies Commission (SSM).
The other departments included Health and Environment, Building Control, and Licensing, with 43 personnel deployed.
“Throughout the operation, 10 premises were monitored, with eight found to be operating, while two others were not operating at the time of inspection.
“Inspections found that some premises were conducting business without valid licences, displaying advertisements without approval from the local authority, maintaining unsatisfactory levels of cleanliness, disposing of rubbish improperly, and causing obstructions in public areas.
“In addition, some premises were found to have made structural modifications to their buildings without approval from the authorities,” MPKS said in a statement.
It added that the compounds were issued for offences under the Trade, Business, and Industrial Licensing By-Laws (MDKS) 2007; the Advertisement By-Laws (MDKS) 2007; and the Refuse Collection, Disposal, and Waste Management By-Laws (MDKS) 2007.
In addition, 11 notices were issued to premises owners, while seizure action involving business equipment was carried out against seven premises found to be operating illegally.
MPKS said it will continue to intensify monitoring and enforcement operations from time to time to ensure all business premises comply with the laws and regulations set by the authorities.
