SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — The state government will clear the nursery sites along Jalan Sungai Buloh to make way for a road widening and elevated road construction project under the strategic development of Kwasa Damansara.
State executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim said that 66 affected nursery plots will receive an ex gratia payment of RM10,000 per plot to facilitate site clearance.
The one-off payment was chosen as a people-friendly approach, given that the area is state land occupied without ownership documents or official approval.
“The implementation of the project was previously delayed due to unresolved site occupation issues. Therefore, this ex gratia payment is a token of goodwill intended to assist with the transition and does not constitute recognition of ownership or permanent occupation rights,” he said in a statement today.
Izham added that there would be no additional commitment to replace sites or provide other compensation beyond the ex gratia payment under consideration.
“The payment will be coordinated by the appointed implementing agency and, once the payment has been made and the stipulated period has ended, the site clearance process will be carried out in accordance with existing legal provisions,” he said.
The councillor emphasised that the state government remains committed to resolving the prolonged issue responsibly and with due consideration, while ensuring that public infrastructure projects can be implemented in the public interest.
The road widening and elevated road construction project is crucial for easing traffic flow, enhancing connectivity, and supporting economic growth in the Sungai Buloh-Damansara corridor.
“The decision was made after taking into account public interest and the need to expedite the implementation of the long-delayed state infrastructure project,” Izham said.
