SHAH ALAM, Feb 8 — The Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat Convention 2026 served as a platform to unite, resolve, and align the party’s direction in strengthening the reform agenda and enhancing preparedness to face upcoming political challenges.
Held at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) Convention Centre in Taman Melawati yesterday, the convention brought together about 2,000 Keadilan members from across Selangor and was attended by party President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Also present were Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar and Vice President cum Selangor Keadilan Chairman Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, who is also the Menteri Besar.
In his speech, Amirudin stressed that Selangor Keadilan's role is one of the main pillars of the party’s strength at the national level.
“Selangor Keadilan plays a very significant role in the overall development of the party and will continue to be the foundation of its core strength,” he said.
Amirudin also urged all members to strengthen political engagement at the grassroots level to ensure the party remains relevant.
During the convention, he also launched Selangor Keadilan's official mascot, the Sun Bear, chosen as a symbol of resilience and adaptability, in line with the character of the people and the state.
Meanwhile, Anwar expressed appreciation to party members who have remained loyal and steadfast in the struggle, while reaffirming the Unity Government leadership’s commitment to continuing to deliver the best possible service to the people.
He also called on all parties to support the agenda of cleansing the nation of corruption and abuse of power, stressing that such efforts should not be trivialised.
“There is no room for those who merely belittle efforts to combat corruption, instead of offering constructive views,” Anwar said in his keynote address.
Separately, Selangor Keadilan Information Chief Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad described the convention as an initial step to align the party’s efforts at the state level.
It also strengthens preparedness to defend past victories and maintain public support in Selangor.
“Overall, the Selangor Keadilan Convention 2026 serves as an early step in coordinating the party’s efforts to defend its victories and strengthen public support in this state,” he said.
The convention also featured presentations by party Secretary-General Datuk Fuziah Salleh, touching on key Parliamentary constituencies and the current performance of Keadilan branches.
In addition, presentations on Undi 18 by the Selangor Angkatan Muda Keadilan Chief and an overview of the Sukma Waja programme by the Selangor Women’s Keadilan Chief were also held.
