SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 — The close relationship between the Ruler and the people, together with the role of the royal institution, forms the foundation of Selangor’s stability and prosperity, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said.
As such, the state government values the leadership and concern shown by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj towards the people throughout His Royal Highness's 25-year reign.
“The Silver Jubilee is not something everyone has the opportunity to celebrate. It is only through the blessings of Allah SWT that the Sultan and Ruler of Selangor have been granted good health and well-being throughout this period.
“It also reflects the uniqueness of the royal institution, the supremacy of the Constitution, the importance of tradition, and the close relationship between the Ruler and the people, which forms the foundation of stability and, in turn, brings prosperity to the people of Selangor, the Abode of Sincerity (Negeri Darul Ehsan),” he said.
Amirudin was speaking at the launch of the book Menjulang Takhta, the first-day cover and commemorative stamps, and a special coin in conjunction with Sultan Sharafuddin's Silver Jubilee at the Raja Tun Uda Library today.
Alongside His Royal Highness, the ceremony was graced by the presence of the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
He added that the state government wished to express its appreciation for the Sultan’s leadership, protection, and concern for the people’s well-being and the state’s prosperity.
“On behalf of the Selangor state government, I wish to convey my highest respect and deepest gratitude to His Royal Highness for his leadership, protection, and concern for the well-being of the people and the prosperity of our beloved state,” he said.
Meanwhile, the book, stamps, and special coin were introduced as part of efforts to document the Sultan’s reign and preserve the heritage of the Selangor Sultanate for future generations.
Amirudin said the book, published in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), is a meaningful effort to document the history of His Royal Highness's reign while preserving the heritage and identity of the Selangor Sultanate.
“The publication of Menjulang Takhta: 25 Tahun Pemerintahan Sultan Selangor is a meaningful effort to record the history of His Royal Highness’s reign and preserve the heritage and identity of the Selangor Sultanate for future generations,” he said.
The special stamps, produced in collaboration with Pos Malaysia Berhad, also highlighted Selangor’s royal heritage symbols, including the Balairung Seri, Istana Alam Shah, the Tengkolok Balung Raja, the Keris Terapang Gabus, and the nine-petalled Bunga Tanjung motif.
The special coin was produced by the Selangor State Treasury in recognition of the Sultan’s 25-year reign, while also symbolising the state’s progress, stability, and prosperity.
The Menteri Besar said the state government will continue to ensure that Selangor’s development remains inclusive and sustainable so that its prosperity can be shared by all segments of society.
