Selangor ensures aid reaches target groups with district-level coordination

SHAH ALAM, Feb 3 — The state government is looking to coordinate the Selangor Poverty Eradication Blueprint Equipment Assistance Programme and Rumah Prihatin at the district level to ensure target groups are more effectively served, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.

He said the effort was launched for the Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor districts during a meeting on both programmes this evening.

According to him, the meeting involved District and Land Office (PTG) representatives and subdistrict leaders as a platform to discuss and share about district-level people’s development programmes.

“This session provided space to study local needs (and) identify implementation challenges in the field.

“Recommended improvements were also discussed so aid delivery is more effective and comprehensive for targeted groups,” Papparaidu said in a Facebook post today.

He added that he would visit each district to deliver aid to recipients and ensure assistance is given directly to those in need.

“I will visit each district to present aid to each recipient. The remaining five districts (whose programmes haven’t been coordinated) will be done tomorrow,” he explained.

Papparaidu emphasised that continuous cooperation between district, subdistrict and state leaders is important to ensure each policy and programme can be effectively executed.

“Cooperation from all parties is important to make sure each of the state government’s initiatives and policies truly reach people in need,” he said.

Earlier, Papparaidu presented over RM170,000 to 24 traders in Petaling and Sepang under the equipment aid programme. Eighteen traders from Sepang received RM129,500, while six in Petaling received RM41,157.

He said all forms of equipment aid will be distributed to recipients by June, before the next phase starts in October.

He added that RM2 million has been allocated for the equipment aid programme, while RM1 million went to the Indian Selangor Empowerment and Entrepreneurs Development (I-SEED) initiative.

Meanwhile, Papparaidu explained that RM2 million has been allocated for the Rumah Prihatin plan to improve housing comfort, including for the Orang Asli community.
