SHAH ALAM, Jan 28 — Noted Chinese global technology brand Xiaomi has entered into a strategic collaboration with Media Selangor Sdn Bhd to expand the use of smartphone devices through the production of creative content.
Media Selangor's chief executive officer Mohamed Fareed Mohamed Ashaaree said the collaboration marks a positive start to the new year for the state government’s official news outlet as it explores the digital economy market.
“Xiaomi has a well-established name and reputation, not only as a smartphone manufacturer but also for electrical appliances and home products that are widely used by Malaysians.
“This collaboration is a very good beginning for 2026. We will be looking at this partnership in a broader context, including several major events such as the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and others,” he said.

Earlier, Fareed received a courtesy visit from Xiaomi Malaysia, represented by its public relations manager Adam Farid, at Media Selangor office's today.
Also present were editor-in-chief Noor Azam Shairi, corporate services cluster head Mohd Zulkifli Ismail, revenue generation cluster head Nursuziana Zulkifli, and camera department head Hafiz Othman.
Through the strategic collaboration, Media Selangor received sponsorship of six high-technology camera smartphones, the Xiaomi 15T Series, which will be used to support the production of media content.

Meanwhile, Adam said the strategic collaboration reflects Xiaomi’s commitment to supporting partners at Media Selangor and serves as a platform to showcase the performance and capabilities of the Xiaomi 15T Series devices to the wider public.

He added that real-world exposure and feedback from Media Selangor add value to Xiaomi’s ongoing efforts to strengthen imaging innovation, while also enhancing confidence in the quality and reliability of Xiaomi devices in real-world usage environments.
“We hope this strategic collaboration will strengthen the relationship between Xiaomi Malaysia and Media Selangor, and open the door to more meaningful collaboration opportunities in the future,” Adam said.
