SHAH ALAM, Jan 22 — Over 2,000 orphans from five districts will be honoured at the 2026 Hari Raya Aidilfitri Contribution Ceremony with the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, organised by Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE).
It said the programme is scheduled to take place throughout Ramadan and will involve orphans from Sabak Bernam, Kuala Langat, Klang, Petaling, and Hulu Selangor.
“The initiative reflects our continued commitment to caring for the welfare of orphans so that they can celebrate Aidilfitri with joy, love, and meaning,” YIDE said in a Facebook post.
Planning for the programme was discussed during a Main Committee Meeting held on Tuesday (January 22).
“The meeting brought together representatives from agencies, government departments, mosque institutions, and orphan care homes as a coordination platform to ensure the programme's smooth and effective implementation,” it said.
Previously, YIDE said that 31 welfare homes housing 12,380 orphans registered with the foundation have been supported through various forms of assistance aimed at securing their future.
The support provided includes management assistance, character and academic development programmes for orphans, and a strong community support network.
Similarly, its corporate manager Mohd Akmal Hafsyam Ghazali had previously said the construction of YIDE's Orphan Hostel Complex in Pulau Indah, Klang, is in its final phase and is scheduled for completion by the end of this month.
The complex, built on 3.47 acres of wakaf land, was funded entirely through public donations totalling RM17 million and will begin intake and screening of new students from the middle of this year.
