KLANG, Oct 22 — The development of the Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan's (YIDE) Hostel Complex in Pulau Indah is set to become a new landmark in efforts to empower Selangor orphans to excel.

Its chairman Tan Sri Mazlan Mansor said the complex will support various aspects of development, including education, character building, spirituality, health, and personal potential.

“The complex, which is currently under development, will be able to accommodate 108 orphaned boys at a time. It aims to nurture a generation that excels academically, holds strong religious values, and can give back to their faith and community.

“This reflects YIDE’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding the welfare, education, and development of orphans in Selangor,” he said when delivering a welcoming address at the Majlis Jamuan Teh Diraja with orphans and children with spastic disabilities today.

The event was held at Istana Alam Shah as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the Sultan of Selangor’s reign (2001-2026), which run from September to November.

At the event, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, spent nearly two hours with the orphans and children with spastic disabilities.

Mazlan, also the Selangor Islamic Religious Council's (MAIS) deputy chairman, said YIDE has supported 12,470 orphans and supervised 37 registered orphanages throughout the state.

“The responsibility of caring for orphans is a major trust that must be fulfilled comprehensively and continuously, in line with the Sultan's decree that MAIS, through YIDE, play an active role in assisting this group.

“These efforts aim to ensure that they have access to quality education and adequate basic necessities. With love, education, and guidance, they have the opportunity to build a better future,” he said.

Earlier, Mazlan described the Majlis Jamuan Teh Diraja as a meaningful occasion that helped foster and strengthen the bond of affection between the Ruler and the people.
