MBDK targets faster complaint resolution within 100 days

KLANG, Jan 11 — The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) has pledged to address public complaints promptly across all channels to strengthen trust in the local government.

Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said the council must pursue continuous improvement to ensure complaints are handled more efficiently.

“We must monitor all platforms, be it counters, websites, social media or phones, to address issues effectively,” he said as reported by The Star

Hamid said the council receives about 1,000 complaints each month, mainly related to infrastructure, bulk waste collection, overgrown grass, and poor silt removal, and proposed a digital transformation to tackle these issues.

“This would make it easier for the public to lodge complaints and help improve service delivery,” he said.

He added that the complaints department should use data to identify root causes, enabling more effective scrutiny of issues and better service delivery.

“Being proactive is important. Following up with complainants is crucial to ensure satisfaction,” he said.

Hamid aims for residents to feel the impact of a more efficient administration within the first 100 days of 2026, with a focus on upgrading infrastructure maintenance and strengthening complaint-resolution mechanisms.

“Matters that do not require high costs or complex technology must be done quickly. Results must be felt by the people within a few days or a week.

“These ‘quick wins’ are intended to build public trust in the organisation before larger, more time-consuming projects are completed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim has urged councillors to communicate effectively with residents to ensure timely and efficient service.

“You must ensure the residents in your respective zones are not ignored. I hope all our councillors will support this (call).

“If we put ourselves in their (residents) shoes, when we send a message or complaint, we want to hear back immediately or not, as long as there is effective communication both ways,” he said.

He said this after the swearing in of 24 councillors for a two-year term from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, at the MBSJ headquarters in USJ5, Subang Jaya. Ten are new appointees, joining 14 returning councillors.
