SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — The Klang Royal City Council won the Diamond recognition at the Low-Carbon Cities 2025 Awards for five buildings under its jurisdiction on February 12.
The award was presented by Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup.
Klang Mayor Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain said the five buildings are the Sultan Alam Shah Buildings, MBDK headquarters, Enforcement Department headquarters, Environment Services Department headquarters, and the MBDK branch on Jalan Tengku Kelana and Jalan Raya Barat.
“MBDK also received the Most Active Local Authority Award in the challenge,” he said at the council’s board meeting at its headquarters today.
Hamid said 27 of MBDK’s strategic partners received the same honour, including Northport Malaysia Bhd, Port Klang Authority, and 18 public schools.
Other recipients included two private schools, three industrial buildings, a business centre, a private hospital, and a mosque.
The Low-Carbon Cities 2030 Challenge has been held by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), which is under the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry (NRES), since July 23, 2019.
