SHAH ALAM, Dec 31 — The state administration has managed to collect RM3 billion in revenues this year, a landmark accomplishment in Selangor's history.
Sharing the good news, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said this figure is the highest ever achieved thus far.
"Alhamdulillah (God be praised), on the final day of 2025, I am delighted to share the good news that the state government has successfully achieved revenue collection amounting to RM3 billion.
"I extend my sincere thanks to everyone. InsyaAllah (God willing), we will work even harder to ensure that Selangor progresses even further in 2026," he said in a Facebook post today.
The RM3 billion in revenue collection is a marked improvement from the start of the month, when Amirudin said that over RM2.7 billion had been collected so far, surpassing the state government's RM2.3 billion initial target for this year.
He attributed this to the excellent performance and coordinated efforts of the entire state administration.
Similarly, during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting last month, Amirudin announced that significant revenue had been generated via dividends from subsidiaries, investments, and water charges.
Noting that the state government has collected around RM40 million annually since 2022 from dividends alone, he said more is expected in the coming years from new sources such as the Zero Discharge Policy (ZDP) and Dark Fibre initiatives.
Last year's performance also exceeded expectations, as in January, the Menteri Besar said the state government recorded RM2.858 billion in revenue, which was also a landmark accomplishment.
