Halal International Selangor targets RM1m in revenue by providing professional services

SHAH ALAM, Dec 30 — Halal International Selangor (HIS) is expected to generate close to RM1 million in revenue through the provision of various professional services under the Halal Selangor Excellence Centre.

Its Business Development and International Relations Department general manager Muhammad Syaril Showkat Ali said the initiative will further strengthen the state's position as a high-impact leader in the national halal ecosystem.

“HIS is expected to generate nearly RM1 million in sustainable service revenue through comprehensive certification services, as well as local and international market penetration programmes under the Halal Selangor Excellence Centre.

“This strengthens Selangor’s position as a high-impact halal ecosystem leader and enhances the value chain and competitiveness of the national halal economy,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday.

Meanwhile, HIS recently completed Phase One Training for the Malaysian Islamic Development Department's (Jakim) International Halal Certification process in Shenzhen, China.

The training was conducted in a strategic collaboration with the Guangdong Gansu Silk Road Economic Cooperation Centre (GKSECC), based in Linxia, Gansu, and involved 20 local companies.

“The training focused on compliance with Jakim’s halal certification standards, which are globally recognised.

“This initiative is positioned as a catalyst for investment into Malaysia and strengthens the country’s role as an international halal one-stop centre, with an estimated growth in export and import value of up to RM300 million to the halal economy,” Syaril said.

For the record, GKSECC is an organisation involved in economic and cultural development, particularly in facilitating collaboration between Malaysia’s halal industry and local companies in China.

Jakim works with GKSECC to strengthen understanding and compliance with Malaysian halal standards, thereby helping local Chinese businesses meet the requirements of the international halal market.
