SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — Selangor has emerged as the state with the largest halal industry capacity nationwide, with approximately 70 per cent of its halal-certified companies operating here.
State Executive Councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said this development positions Selangor as the nation’s primary focal point for the halal sector.
He said the state government has also outlined various initiatives to strengthen the halal industry ecosystem, including identifying halal warehouses and logistics hubs to be developed as dedicated facilities.
“Among the efforts currently being implemented is streamlining the halal certification process. We guarantee that first-time applications will be approved in under 30 days, or the fee will be refunded.
“We are also actively promoting halal products through festivals such as this. Starting next year, we will explore collaboration with a leading digital platform to establish a digital Selangor Halal Booth, enabling access to domestic and international markets,” Fahmi said.
He was speaking to the press after officiating the Selangor HalalVibe Fest 2025 at Dataran Karnival, the Shah Alam Stadium today.
The four-day programme runs until Sunday (November 30) and features various engaging activities, including a Halal Certification Seminar, business-matching sessions, halal awareness presentations, and pitching activities with Yayasan Hijrah Selangor and Agrobank to expand networking and financing opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Visitors will also be entertained by performances from popular artistes, including Ara Johari, Wany Hasrita, Jamal Abdillah, and Aizat Amdan.
Over 300 booths have been set up featuring halal food and beverage producers, service providers, the agriculture and fashion industries, as well as colouring contests, lucky draws, and a cute cat competition. Several halal-certified pet products are also on display.
Organised by the state government in collaboration with Halal International Selangor (HIS), the implementing agency, the festival aims to achieve RM3 million in sales transactions and an expected attendance of 30,000 visitors.
