SELAYANG, Dec 28 — Flood mitigation and public cleanliness have been identified as key priorities of the current administration to ensure that essential public needs are addressed in line with Selangor’s economic development.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said both challenges cannot be resolved in a short period and require the cooperation of multiple stakeholders to achieve lasting solutions.
“Based on our track record in resolving issues and the approaches taken, God willing, we are confident that these matters can be addressed while continuing to assist those in need.
“Our aim is to make the state better, not only in terms of economic growth, but also by ensuring the well-being and resilience of its people. We want progress and development to be shared by all,” he said.
He said this after visiting several projects in the Gombak Parliament and presentation back to school aid to students in the Gombak Setia state constituency here yesterday.
According to Amirudin, the state administration conducts a review every six months to identify households classified as hardcore poor to ensure they receive immediate assistance and move out of the category.
"If there is anyone in that category, the Selangor Zakat Board will help. The Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) and Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) will also be offered to help them move out of hardcore poverty."
Amirudin said although the state recorded a high investment totalling RM100 billion last year, creating over 30,000 job opportunities, the state remains committed to improving these figures and assisting the people.
"We help the rakyat through, among other things, the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah and Ehsan Mart. For what? For the public to purchase basic necessities at a more affordable price," he said.
